We talked with Daltile Studio and Gallery managers across the nation to find out which Daltile products were the favorites and best sellers for 2016 and a couple themes quickly emerged. So without further ado, here are the most popular products of 2016!
Marble and marble look were hot in 2016. We got reports from all over the nation that marble is where it’s at.
Marble looks are popular because as Gayline Kirkwood, manager at the Las Vegas Daltile Gallery, said, “it’s the perfect answer to a marble look with no maintenance.” And everyone wants the marble look with no maintenance.
River Marble™ sold like hotcakes this past year because it’s so realistic, has great colors, and “the collection offers a polished tile that can go on the floor and that’s hard to find,” says Katie Roberts, manager at the Atlanta Gallery.
Marble Attache™ matched River Marble nearly step for step in popularity in 2016. Authentic marble look and multiple finishes offers clients the “exact look they want in an easy-to-care-for porcelain tile,” says Kirkwood.
One Quartz Surfaces™ in marble looks, Calacatta and Statuary were a hit because quartz is as durable as grante and nearly maintenance-free.
Marble 6” hexagons “launched in the latter part of the year, but if they were around all year it would definitely be one of our best sellers. The unique 6” size and blending of sizes to form the hexagon add visual interest without being too expensive,” says Roberts.
Additionally, Ginga Guidroz, manager of the Dallas Daltile Design Studio, says that the 20” limestone hexagon is going to be big in 2017. “Stone in different shapes for wall and floor are building in momentum and will be something to watch in the coming year.”
Wood-look tile is still a front runner and will be for several years. “It’s really gone beyond being a trend,” says Shelly Halbert, product designer at Daltile, “it’s become a staple so you can expect it will maintain popularity.”
The favorite in 2016 was Saddle Brook™, especially in the colors Farmhouse and Walnut Creek. Saddle Brook XT™, which is suitable for outdoor applications, was introduced in 2016 and sales centers can’t keep in on the shelf! Both products come in "colors that will stand the test of time," says Kristin Khan, manager at the Daltile Gallery in Anaheim. They are solid products with great flexibility. Rocio Gutierrez, manager at the Daltile Design Studio in Miami, comments, “It’s very popular due to price point, indoor/outdoor seamless transition, and the only wood-look that meets DCOF for exterior applications.”
Another best seller is Season Wood™. “Orchard Grey is a favorite because it’s the right color—a classy grey that maintains a timeless charm,” says Kirkwood. The reclaimed wood look softens colors and designs and isn’t limited to rustic designs. It works great in everything from an urban loft to streamlined modern spaces.
It’s a classic style that never gets old. Subway tile defines classic tile design. Chris Hevey, of the Dallas Daltile Gallery, says “Arctic White is a go-to—every day someone asks to see subway tile and we take them right to Rittenhouse Square™.”
The classic look is embracing a broader range of tiles lately, such as larger tiles with the same shape or tiles with texture or different finishes or looks.
Artigiano™ offers a larger “subway” style with an undulating surface that adds considerable interest.
Elevare™ is a smooth, larger “subway” tile for a modern twist on a timeless classic. Smooth neutral colors bring design flexibility.
