Ready to take the party outside? Outdoor living spaces are hot right now and that’s not changing any time soon. Industry analysts predict that more than $5.7 billion will be spent in 2016 on outdoor living. Bring the indoors out with these outdoor living trends.
#1 Comforts of Indoors for the Outdoors
Many homeowners are bringing the comforts of the indoors outside simply because they can. Technologically advanced outdoor materials offer weather-proof fabrics and surfaces that withstand freezing, wind, and wet, yet have the warmth you’d usually only find indoors.
For example, take wood-look tile. The latest developments have made this champion appropriate for patios, pool decks, and outdoor kitchens. You don’t have to resurface it or stain it every few years. You don’t have to worry about rot and replacement. It always looks great so you can focus on entertaining your guests.
But that’s not all. You’ll find sofas, throw pillows, coffee tables and all sorts of details that look like they are for the indoors but are built to be outdoors.
#2 Hearth and Home in the Backyard
The humble backyard fire pit has been upgraded to full-size hearth. It’s a design feature of the outdoor space and not just a place to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Some people even go so far as to install a combination fireplace/brick oven.
Consider stone tile or stacked stone veneer for a rustic look or go contemporary with a polished, large tile or intricate mosaic on your outdoor fireplace.
#3 Cooking Out-of-Doors
Cooking outdoors isn’t just about the grill anymore. Fully functional kitchens make their way outdoors in 2016. Stove tops, ovens, even dishwashers are a part of the outdoor kitchen. Nobody wants to heat up the house cooking during the summer and the outdoor kitchen is the perfect answer to enjoying the summer without sacrificing all the amenities of the kitchen.
Get creative with your design and include features like a bar, traditional dining areas, and easy access to the pool. Be sure to include plenty of shade so you can cook in comfort.
