It's a good time to remodel your kitchen! 2017's fresh designs will give you the upgrade you've been dreaming of. Read on to find out what's on trend in the kitchen this year.

ORGANIZATION

A place for everything and everything in its place. That’s the rule for kitchen design in 2017. It’s design that helps you stay tidy so you can have that streamlined, clean look that’s a big trend right now.

DETAILS

Sometimes, the tone of a design is more about the details than it is about the big elements. It sets the tone for the personality of the room. Infusing uniqueness into a space is on-trend, plus it makes your spaces one-of-a-kind.

A VIEW

Windows and skylights are the new element the kitchen can’t do without. Many designers are getting rid of upper cabinets in favor of more windows. Architects are designing homes around the environment. Got a great view to the west? Make sure the window over the kitchen sink takes advantage of that.

COLORS

The color that will get the most traction in 2017 is grey. It goes with everything and comes in hundreds of shades and tones. Warmer greys like greige are the way to go this year. Black and white schemes will also continue to be hot as will white on white. Pops of accent color will be the way the kitchen gets its color.

OPEN SHELVING & CABINETS

A more open kitchen is on-trend in 2017. That makes room for the kitchen to be a beautiful, well designed space. With so many people entertaining guests in the kitchen, it’s evolving to have display areas and things to look at besides cupboards.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Less work means more time to spend doing the things you love most. That mentality is driving the 2017 trend toward low-maintenance materials in the kitchen. The trick is that materials still look high-end and luxurious but don’t require the work they once did. Quartz is at the top of the list. It’s a natural stone composite that gives you the look of marble or granite but requires almost no maintenance.

TEXTURES & FINISHES

When colors stay neutral or monochromatic and lines straight and subtle as they do in 2017, some texture can add interest to a room. A wave or combed effect is all it takes to soften a room and give it character.
